The airport sits close to Corfu Town itself, so getting into the centre is quick and easy — taxis are readily available at the terminal, and the journey is short. If you're heading further afield to one of the resort areas on the north or south of the island, car hire is genuinely worth considering, as it opens up a lot of the island's quieter corners that package tourists rarely reach.
Peak season runs June through August, when the island is buzzing, the sea is warm, and prices across the board are at their highest. If you can travel in late May or September, you'll find the weather still excellent, the beaches far less crowded, and accommodation noticeably cheaper. The route is heavily seasonal, so flight options thin out considerably outside the summer window — plan accordingly.
