Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about how FlightKitten works.

How does FlightKitten find cheap flights?

FlightKitten scans 220+ airlines twice a day, every 12 hours, looking for economy fare drops on your watched routes. When a fare hits your target price, you get an email with the full details — airline, dates, stops, price — plus an AI briefing explaining whether it's a genuinely good deal or just a random dip.

How accurate are the fare alerts?

The price in your alert is live data pulled at the exact moment we scanned — not an estimate, not a historical average. Airfare moves fast. Fares can disappear within hours, which is why each alert tells you when it was spotted and includes our AI's read on how long it's likely to hold.

How quickly will I get an alert after a fare drops?

We scan at 6am and 6pm UTC. If a fare drops between those windows, you'll catch it on the next scan — within 12 hours. We don't do real-time polling because it's expensive and the fares worth acting on rarely vanish in under an hour. The 12-hour cycle catches the vast majority of deals.

What does the AI briefing in the alert tell me?

Each alert includes a deal quality score (1–10), how the fare compares to the historical average for that route, an estimate of how long similar fares typically last, and a plain-English recommendation on whether to book now or keep watching. Think of it as a frequent flyer friend reviewing the deal before you decide.

Can I track flights to multiple destinations at once?

Yes. Each watchlist supports up to 10 destination airports. If you're open to flying into Rome, Milan, or Naples, set one watchlist covering all three — you'll get an alert for whichever drops first, and each alert specifies exactly which route triggered it.

Does FlightKitten track economy class only?

Yes — economy and basic economy only. Economy is where most flight deals happen and prices are most volatile. Mixing cabin classes in the same alert creates noise, so we kept the focus narrow. If you're hunting business class fares specifically, that's a different product with different data sources.

Does FlightKitten work for international flights?

Yes. We cover 3,200+ airports across 190+ countries. FlightKitten works for domestic routes too, but the biggest value tends to be on long-haul international flights where price swings of $150–$400 are common and easy to miss without automation.

How is FlightKitten different from Hopper or Kayak price alerts?

Hopper and Kayak alert you when prices change relative to what they were before — which means you still get noise for fares that are $200 above what you'd actually pay. FlightKitten only contacts you when fares hit your specific budget. No "prices are rising, book now" pressure. Every alert also comes with an AI analysis of whether the deal is worth acting on.

What makes FlightKitten different from Google Flights?

Google Flights is a search tool — you go there and check. FlightKitten is a monitoring service that watches and comes to you. Set your target price once and we alert you when the fare appears. Most people miss deals because they forget to check. FlightKitten solves that.

Do I need to install an app?

No app required. You set up watchlists through the web dashboard and receive alerts by email. That's intentional — when a deal lands in your inbox, you can act on it immediately. Each alert links directly to the airline's booking page, so there's no extra step inside our product.

Is FlightKitten free?

There's a free 7-day trial with full access. After the trial, paid plans start from a few dollars a month depending on how many routes you want to track. You can cancel any time from the dashboard in two clicks.

How many routes can I track?

The trial gives you 3 active watchlists. Paid plans scale from there — more watchlists, more destinations per watchlist, longer date ranges. You can add, pause, or delete watchlists any time without losing your settings.
