You can spend a morning exploring Hadrian's Gate — a remarkably preserved triumphal arch built in the second century — and be floating in a turquoise cove by afternoon. The region is also a gateway to some of Turkey's most significant ancient sites, including the ruins of Perge and Aspendos, the latter home to one of the best-preserved Roman theatres anywhere on earth.
The resort infrastructure here is extensive, and all-inclusive options along the coast offer serious value, particularly for families. But don't let the resort strip be your entire experience — the food scene in the old city and local markets rewards anyone willing to explore beyond the hotel buffet.
Peak season runs June through August, when the weather is reliably hot and sunny and the coast is at its most vibrant. Book four to six months ahead for summer travel — this is a heavily trafficked destination and prices climb sharply as the season approaches. If you have flexibility, late May and September offer warm swimming weather with noticeably thinner crowds and softer prices.
From Antalya Airport, the city center is easily accessible by public transport or taxi, and the airport sits close enough to the coast that you'll feel the holiday atmosphere almost immediately upon landing. Pack light layers for evenings, sunscreen in industrial quantities, and an appetite — Turkish cuisine on its home turf is one of travel's great pleasures.
