Route Briefing: Denver to Seoul
Denver to Seoul is one of those routes that rewards the patient planner. At around 13 and a half hours with one stop, it's a serious commitment of travel time — but Seoul is the kind of city that makes you forget the jet lag almost immediately. If you can snag a roundtrip fare under $700, you're getting exceptional value for a destination this rich. Standard pricing runs $1,000 to $1,400 or more, so the gap between a good deal and an average one is genuinely significant here.
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are the natural choices for this route, and both carriers are known for solid long-haul service with Korean hospitality baked in from the moment you board. United also operates this corridor, often connecting through San Francisco or Los Angeles. Speaking of which — if you're flexible on routing, checking connections through SFO or LAX can sometimes unlock lower fares than other options, so it's worth comparing a few combinations before you commit.
Seoul itself is one of the most energizing cities in Asia. Ancient palaces like Gyeongbokgung sit in the shadow of glass skyscrapers, and the contrast never gets old. Neighborhoods shift dramatically from block to block — the traditional hanok village of Bukchon, the buzzing street markets of Myeongdong, the polished avenues of Gangnam. Street food is a genuine highlight: tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken, hotteok, and pajeon are everywhere and deeply satisfying. The city runs late, the public transit is excellent, and getting around is intuitive even without speaking Korean.
From Incheon International Airport, the AREX express train connects directly to central Seoul in roughly an hour, making it one of the more painless airport-to-city transfers you'll experience anywhere in the world. It's affordable, reliable, and drops you right into the heart of the city.
Timing matters on this route. June through August brings summer heat and humidity alongside peak crowds and higher fares. Late December into early January is similarly busy. If you want the sweet spot, aim for spring — late March through May — when cherry blossoms transform the city and the weather is genuinely pleasant. Autumn is equally beautiful, with cooler temperatures and vivid foliage. Book three to six months ahead for either of those windows and you give yourself the best shot at that sub-$700 roundtrip.
The one tip worth underlining: get a T-money card at the airport as soon as you land. It works on the subway, buses, and even some taxis, and it'll save you time and small headaches throughout your entire stay.
