If you're flying into Narita, the Narita Express train connects directly to central Tokyo stations including Shinjuku and Shibuya, making it a straightforward and reliable arrival. Haneda sits closer to the city and is well connected by both rail and monorail, often making it the more convenient option if you have a choice.
Timing your visit around the cherry blossom season — roughly late March through early April — is genuinely magical, but it's also when competition for seats and accommodation is fiercest. Book three to six months ahead if this is your target window, and be aware that Golden Week at the end of April and into early May brings significant domestic travel crowds. Summer is warm and humid. Autumn, from October into November, brings beautiful foliage and cooler temperatures with far less booking pressure — a genuinely underrated time to visit.
On the fare side, a roundtrip under seven hundred euros or dollars represents a strong deal on this route, with standard pricing typically running considerably higher. Midweek departures on Tuesdays or Wednesdays tend to be meaningfully cheaper than weekend flights, so if your schedule allows flexibility, it's worth checking those dates specifically.
